Campaign Impact Report 2023

Find out more about Poppyscotland and the Royal British Legion collaborative work on their Campaigns, Policy and Research. 2023 was a busy, and successful year for the CPR team:

In 2023 we:

  • Launched our Credit their Service campaign demanding an end to the unfair treatment of military compensation as income by welfare benefit means test

  • Published the 2024 General Election manifesto, Supporting those who Serve us.

  • Submitted 31 consultations across a variety of policy areas.

  • Analysed data about the Armed Forces community from the 2021 Census following our successful Count Them In campaign, alongside other national sources and internal beneficiary data, to produce an overview of needs of the Armed Forces community, and the support in place to meet them.

  • Partnered with the University of Chester Westminster Centre for Veterans’ Research to break new ground in evidence about hearing loss among working age veterans in the UK.

  • Worked with the Kings Centre Mental Health Research in support of a PhD study into health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ personnel in the UK Armed Forces.

  • Continued to monitor and respond to the Etherton Review on the LGBT Ban.

  • Continued to monitor the Covenant Duty
