Who we are

We provide support for current and former members of the Armed Forces as well as their families. This support, in recognition of their sacrifices and service, is holistic and bespoke.

We have helped countless men, women and families with issues linked to their time in the Armed Forces or with struggles adjusting from military to civilian life. We even help with needs that have arisen long after someone has left the Armed Forces. Whenever, wherever support is needed, we are here.

Fundraising

We're best known for running the iconic Scottish Poppy Appeal. Every November, we distribute poppies to raise vital funds to help our Armed Forces community in Scotland.

That money, combined with other fundraising, is how we're able to provide funding to thousands of ex-Servicemen and women as well as other vital services in advice, employment, mobility, housing and mental health support.

Raising vital funds

In 2019-2020 we raised more than £4.1 million in voluntary income, and spent in excess of £3.4 million on our charitable activities. In other words, we must raise more than £10,000 a day to continue our work.

We take pride in being as transparent as possible and take very seriously the trust the Scottish public place in us when they make a donation. That's why we publish full, audited Annual Report and Financial Accounts and Annual Review.

Our history

Established in 1921 as The Earl Haig Fund Scotland, we adopted our current name and logo in 2006 to reflect our revised fundraising activities and welfare services work.

In 2011, we merged with sister charity the Royal British Legion (RBL), which operates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, to form the largest charity group supporting the Armed Forces community across the UK.

We continue to operate as a distinct charity within the RBL group of charities, relying entirely on public donations to allow us to continue our life-changing work. Read more about our history.

Trust and commitment

We are committed to making sure the vital services that the Armed Forces community urgently need are provided by us as efficiently and effectively as possible.

We welcome any questions over how we use the funds that are entrusted to us.
