Remembrance Sunday

101-year-old WWII veteran Jack Ransom was joined by The Rt Hon Lord Provost and Lord Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh Frank Ross and First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, along with senior military personnel, members of the wider Armed Forces community and of the emergency services, for the Two Minute Silence and wreath-laying ceremony at the Stone of Remembrance. The short open-air service of remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony took place in Edinburgh at Legion Scotland's Garden of Remembrance on Princes Street and was led by the charity’s National Padre, Rev Dr Karen Campbell. Wreaths were laid by Deputy Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh Councillor Joan Griffiths along with representatives from Legion Scotland, Poppyscotland and Veterans Scotland. Veterans and members of the public took the opportunity to plant remembrance symbols in the Garden following the service.
