Gift Aid is a UK government initiative that allows charities to reclaim tax on donations made by individuals who pay income tax or capital gains tax. This scheme enables Poppyscotland to claim an additional 25p for every £1 donated at no additional expense to you.
How much of a difference does it make?
If you were to donate £10 today and you sign up to gift aid, your donation is worth £12.50 at no added cost to you but enables Poppyscotland to further support members of the Armed Forces community and their families.
Why haven’t I heard about it before?
It was introduced in the Finance Act 1990. Gift Aid serves as a tax incentive for charitable giving, enabling tax-effective donations.
